TOPIC: “BIOS EXPLAINED & HOW TO WRITE YOURS”
A Special 2-Part Presentation/Min-Workshop
MARCH 9: PART I: “The Different Kinds of Bios & Their Uses”
SUMMARY: Your resume tells people what you do and what you’ve done professionally. Your bio is more personal and goes much deeper. It tells people who you are and how you got to be you. It can entice an interview, make a personal connection with interviewers and suggest you have the personal chemistry to fit in. Steve explains in detail what bios are, how they differ from resumes and the many different bio formats you can use.
ABOUT : Steve has been a writer and storyteller almost his entire life. He wrote his 6th grade graduation play and was Editor-in-Chief of his high school paper. After UCLA and Berkeley, he co-founded a City Magazine in San Francisco with funding from Francis Coppola. In Washington, DC, he wrote for the U.S. Information Agency and the American Film Institute. Back in San Francisco, Steve landed a job at the world’s largest ad agency, creating award-winning campaigns for dozens of clients – as well as writing countless bios for the agency’s staff. Before all that, he was a kid actor – a natural path coming from a theatrical family. Growing up in Hollywood, John Carradine was his neighbor, Billie “Glinda-the-Good-Witch” Burke his agent, and he appeared in films with Burt Lancaster, James Dean, Natalie Wood and Victor Mature. |
