As Yankee Manager Casey Stengel once said, “Predictions are hard
to make, especially about the future.” This year certainly proved that.
To paraphrase Churchill, it’s been like “a riddle wrapped in a mystery
inside an enigma.” In short, a hot mess. But thankfully, for most of us,
it’s almost over. So, now is a good time to begin looking ahead and
start our thinking about 2021 – and perhaps beyond. The question is,
will it be a just rerun or a new episode? As you’ll hear from a couple of
selected prognosticators, best plan on both. Like a bad hangover, some
unpleasant trends will continue. However, certain emerging trends are
powerful enough to shove 2020 into the rearview mirror and shape
things for years to come. There’ll be unpredictable twists and turns,
but also a clear enough curve visible for you to get ahead of it.
