TOPIC:   Kickstart Career Development -- "The 5 Key Elements of Storytelling"

SUMMARY: The single most effective thing you can do to improve your odds of getting a job offer is to tell a great story in the interview; share a vivid example from your experience that illustrates how you can help them. By doing so, you stand out from your competitors, and can transform a mediocre interview into a memorable one.

Sure, there are lots of other things you should be doing as well, like prepping for challenging questions and asking the right ones, following up effectively, doing your research beforehand, and making a good presentation. Yet story-telling is the most powerful, because we are wired to remember the imagery, the drama, and the emotion that’s conveyed in a good story. That’s why I tell my job-search clients that they are on a mission to get at least one of their stories heard in each interview.

I was a top producing real estate agent from 2002 to 2004 and saved 100's of homes from foreclosure while doing Foreclosure Intervention Counseling.
